5 new Medical Colleges to add 500 MBBS seats in J&K from this session

J&K govt had approved 5 new medical college in the state- in Anantnag, Baramulla, Kathua, Rajouri and Doda. The construction of Medical Colleges is almost complete and the Principals of various medical colleges are now hopeful to admit 100 MBBS student each in the current academic session in these 5 Medical Colleges.
According to the sources of The Publish, the MCI has already completed its inspection process in respect of these medical colleges and had raised certain observations and steps are being taken to clear those observations. The adding of 5 new Medical Colleges shall give much required boost to the Medical Education as well as healthcare in Jammu & Kashmir. Presently only 4 Medical Colleges offering MBBS courses i.e. Government Medical College Jammu, Government Medical College Srinagar, Sher-I-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences Kashmir and Acharya Shri Chander Medical College of Medical Sciences in Jammu.
According to the sources, the MCI has raised certain objections regarding the availability of doctors and nursing staff in the new Medical Colleges which is being completed at war footing. One of the senior doctors credited Secretary Health and Medical Education Atal Dulloo for taking keen interest for completion of works.
